Today is overdose awareness day
This is an important week for behavioral health care.

First, today is #OverdoseAwarenessDay. Homeless adults are nine times more likely to die from an overdose than their counterparts who were stably housed. Follow along on Twitter.

Second, in the next month the Senate is set to consider the Mental Health Reform Act which has key provisions to address substance abuse and mental health issues, especially for those experiencing homelessness.

Make Room campaign begins tomorrow

Tomorrow the Make Room campaign will launch their effort to send a million messages to Congress demanding attention and action on affordable housing issues. The Alliance will join this campaign throughout the election season so stay tuned for our ongoing coverage!

Veterans Affairs announces $300m in ssvf grants

Through the Supportive Services for Veterans Families (SSVF) program the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) has granted additional funds to support outreach, case management and other flexible assistance to prevent Veteran homelessness or rapidly re-house families.
